Kindergarten got to enjoy the nice weather recently, before the cold front came in.
On Friday, October 11, 2013, all Kindergarten students at Pleasant View Elementary went to Briggs Woods park, thanks to the FOSS science curriculum.
“Our first unit of science is the study of trees and weather,” teacher Lisa Doering said. “We took a walk on the trail, studying the changes trees [were] making during the fall. We also looked for fallen leaves, acorns, and wildlife that may live in or around the trees.”
Students then had a picnic lunch, played on the playground, and then headed back to Pleasant View.
Teacher Melissa Larson’s class even found a caterpillar before they came back to school.
“We brought it back to our classroom and are observing it,” she said. “Easy class pet.”
