Bus Safety

Students in Webster City recently got a lesson about bus safety!

For the past two weeks, Webster City Community School District’s Transportation Director Ted Larson has hosted bus safety sessions at the local preschools, Pleasant View Elementary, Sunset Heights Elementary, and the Middle School.

Students learned about expectations, safety, and emergency evacuations–among a few others.

Middle School Principal Becky Hacker-Kluver said the main points Larson covered at the Middle School included “Get on the bus and sit down,” “Keep voices low,” “Keep feet and knees out of the aisle,” “Look both ways when crossing the street–wait for the driver to give you the OK–look both ways again,” and “Remind yourself to always do the right thing.”

After all the sessions at the Middle School, Larson said he was impressed.

“I was so impressed with how the students handled themselves and listened to the expectations,” he said. “I told the students after the session I would be proud to take them anywhere when they conduct themselves as they did today.”
